SpecifyInsight is an immersive iPad application that enables users to explore the ‘what, when and where’ of databased biological specimen information. Nearly all museums maintain their own databases containing this information. We produce the ‘Specify’ database platform which is funded by the National Science Foundation and is used to catalog specimen information. Specify is currently used worldwide by 435 biological collections. SpecifyInsight enables museums to make data from their own collections available in an iPad application for informal education, field research and outreach uses.
